Back trackin!

Hello, Hello!
Yesterday, was crazy busy so I apologize for lack of postage.
Let's do a little back tracking, shall we?!
Monday night we went to the gym.
I had already lifted arms, heavy might I add, at work before I left, so all I had to do was get my run on.  I had no real destination that I wanted to go.  I decided I would run until Clint was finished working out.  5 miles later......I saw him walk down the hall.  Well, thank you husband!

Tuesday, my work day off, involved house cleaning, the vet, new tags for our Murano, the grocery store, and to see my friend Mary at the hospital because Baby Kate Emerson arrived Monday afternoon.  She was so precious.  It made me want another baby.....but not for a WHILE!  The "stuff they don't tell you because you would never have a baby" is still to fresh in my mind!

Wednesday, yesterday was soopa busy at work, which I prefer!  I am not good at not being productive!!
After work and meeting Clint at home, we went to get Snook and headed to the gym.
Speed work day!  I knocked out 3.01 miles in 25:34 min!  I was pretty proud of my short leggies gettin' it on the treadmill!

Supper last night was huge salads with chicken and garlic/pepper toast(for me!)  Oh and for dessert, I had a smoothie in a bowl.  It was my first ever adding spinach and like every one in Blog land, I was sold.  Why not add in some  "vitamin A (and especially high in lutein), vitamin Cvitamin Evitamin Kmagnesiummanganesefolatebetaineironvitamin B2calcium,potassiumvitamin B6folic acidcopperproteinphosphoruszincniacinselenium andomega-3 fatty acids."??Source
Exactly....no reason not too, especially if you can't even taste it!

I plan on running outside around our house today after work. It is supposed to be in the upper 70's!  SCORE!
Are you working out today?
What are some of your fave concoctions for smoothies?
Do you prefer in a glass or in a bowl?

Have a great day!!

Kickin' tail and breakin' rules

It is the middle of the week!  So, that means HUMP day! We are supposed to get snow this afternoon, which means a possible SNOW day tomorrow!!  We shall see.

Monday, I did not get to workout at work.  It was just too busy/hectic of a day for me to scoot over for some sweat time.  Life happens!

We did go last night and I kicked my own A@@ for sure in the weights dept.  Workout as follows.
Cardio:
15 min on the ellip
10 min on the Stair master!  Yep,  I went old school for a change up and my booty was screaming!

Weights:
(Barbell- with ~10kg(I think) plates on each side, slightly heavy)
Front deep as I could go Squats-2x15
Seated Good Mornings 2x15
Machine rows 2x15 70#
Hip Thrusts 2x15
Skull Crushers 2x15
Wide Chest press 2x15
Standing upright rows 2x15
Bicep curls 2x5 (it was too heavy for the bi's, so I did what I could)
*I did each exercise 1 set. No rest in between the sets.  Then I repeated.

Cardio:
5 more min on the Stair Master

Let me tell ya, I was hurting.  My arms were so fatigued and my veins were showing!  I did have a hellava workout if I do say so myself!

We came home to a fabulously smelling house!  I had cut up carrots, celery, 3 potatoes, and a put a pot roast in the "magic supper maker" aka the crockpot before I left for work.  Oh, I also added a packet of "pot roast" flavoring.  It was so tender, I had to take a spatula to get it out!  MMM comfort food oh yeaaaaaa.

I came across this article Family Circle magazine, 6 Diet Rules to Break:.

"Old Rule: Eat everything in moderation. Don't make any food off-limits, or you'll want it even more. If you're craving a high-damage goodie, have a few bites and be done with it.

Break It: Recent research has found that a few nibbles of a tempting food may actually spark overeating. In the study, people who ate a small chocolate truffle wanted to continue eating high-calorie, high-fat food just 25 minutes later. Researchers say that a small bite of an indulgent food activates a "pleasure goal" that makes people crave more.

Revised Plan: Identify your trigger foods. While you don't want to label entire categories of foods (like sweets or desserts) as "forbidden," focus on the one or two foods that make you lose control. It's a smart move to keep them out of the house. "Rather than saying, 'I can't have this food' say, "This food doesn't work for me,'" says New York City diet doctor Stephen Gullo, PhD, author of The Thin Commandments (Rodale Books). When you decide to treat yourself, go out for one serving of your trigger food (like ordering a child-size ice cream cone), he says. Then tell yourself that one portion is enough. "The people in our study who truly believed that one truffle would satisfy them were not tempted to eat more," says researcher Juliano Laran, PhD, an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Miami School of Business Administration." This part of the article hit home to me!  This is how I have treated "off limits" foods for a long time!  I did eat Peanut butter last week.  I ate the last tablespoon or so in the jar to make "OIAJ" and it was amazing.  BUT, it got my taste buds wanting and craving PB.  I had the TASTE and wanted MORE.  I did decide that I will eat PB when there is a little left in the jar.  This happens maybe once every month and a half so that will be a delightful treat to look forward to, but it is a trigger food in my life that I could easily eat too much of and choose to stay away from as much as possible.

What did you think of the article tips??

Have a great day!

Busy bee eats food.

Hi there bloggy friends.  Do you ever start writing a post and really have no idea what you are going to write about???  That is me today my dears.  I don't have a clue what direction this will take, so be prepared.

I had a very busy weekend.
Saturday-Clean house, work 10-1pm, Xmas party that me, my mom, and sis help run each year 4-11:30pm
Sunday-church, nap, Baby shower, shop some with my mom, meeting at church.

I am starting off the week tired.  Although being tired seems to be a common symptom for me, I am even more tired from this weekend and because I didn't sleep very well last night.  I kept dreaming about our u/s on Wednesday.  I dreamed we were having twins too!  Scary.  We shall see though.

I am extremely nervous about the appt though.   A couple of my pregnant friends are going through some scary things with their babies health right now and I, of course, start thinking of everything that can go wrong.  I know that is not good for me or the baby, but hey it is a reality.

Let's talk a little nutrition.  I have always been very dilgent in keeping up with my calories, fat, protein, and carbs through Sparkpeople.  It has kept me in check to get to a comfortable baby carrying weight.  I am slightly OCD and put in everything I eat everyday as well as my exercise.

According to all of the literature, once you are pregnant, you keep your calories about the same the 1st tri, increase 300 calories the 2nd tri, and up to 500 extra calories the 3rd tri.

I am going to talk to my RE Wednesday when we meet with her and ask her what she thinks I should do.  I am on the low end of the "normal" BMI.  I also came to the conclusion that I am NOT going to track what I eat anymore.  It has become a hassle and a controlling factor.  Days when I am not hungry, I HAVE to eat because I HAVE to his those calories.  It becomes forced and not fun.  Other days when I am starving, I don't eat that extra snack because I HAVE to stay within my calorie range.  Hungry+Courtney+Angry=HANGRY.

I am done.  I am packing lots of food for my LONG days at work and when I am hungry I will eat and I won't when I am not.  I am not going to go overboard and eat at every fast food place and eat cartons of ice cream.(well maybe on occasion!  I did crave a McDonald's sausage biscuit Saturday, although I let it just be a craving and didn't go through with it.)  I just know that this is a time for me to nourish this baby and myself.  I will pick foods that I can stomach and that appeal to me.  I'm going to trust my doctors and listen to what THEY want me to do to ensure the healthiest baby possible.

I am so content and happy about this decision and this weekend, went really well putting it in to practice.

What do you think you girls will do, are doing, or have done about pregnancy nutrition???

On another food for thought moment.  What is your opinion of women drinking wine while pregnant??
At the Xmas party on Saturday, a woman who is about 10 weeks was drinking wine.  It kind of threw me for a loopity loop.  I don't agree with it, but was curious as to what you thought!

Have a great day!  Xmas is 18 days away!!!!
