Overcoming

Yay for Friday people!  Whooot whoot!  I hope your week has been a good one and your weekend will be even better.

I have posted about Intimidation before and how even though I am a Personal Trainer and in (tooting my own horn) great shape, I am easily intimidated by "manland" in our gym.  I have told you about how there is a women's only area (I call it vagina land) and the rest of the gym (manland) where mostly men workout.  We have been going to this particular gym since Ava was 5 weeks old.  So about 13 months.  In those 13 months, I have NEVER worked out in Manland.  I have taken spin classes on the Spin floor, but never have I ventured to workout out there.  I am easily intimidated.  Crazy I know.  In my last  post, I talked about needed a challenge or goal and getting lonely working out by myself.  I needed that extra push to get to my full workout potential.

Clint's usual workout partner is in a "not really wanting to workout slump."  SCORE FOR ME!  Let me backup and say that Clint and I have worked out together in the same room, but have NEVER worked out in the same routine together. So I thought I would at least ask him what he thought about us working out together yesterday.  He said he had actually thought earlier in the day about doing that!  Crazy how that works!

So we dropped Ava off at kidcare and I gathered my courage and we went back to the dreaded manland!  We still have to get used to each other and workout habits, but it was actually the best lifting session I have had in a long time!  We did chest, triceps, and abs.
Skull crushers EZbar+10lbs 3x12
Pushups 2x10
Superset: Bench Press Bar+10lbs 3x10
and Butterflys 10lb DBs 3x10
Abs-Roman Chair 50x
Assisted Dips 3x10
Pushups 3x10

I loved it! I loved spending time with him.  I loved pushing my self, because let's face it, I had to impress my man!! haha  I loved doing something with him that is my passion and that he is getting back in to.  Him losing 29lbs really re-engergized his want to be in the gym. No complaints here!

I am extremely sore this morning, which I love too, but I can't wait to get to workout with him again.  Oh and my manland fear is conquered.  I will limit my usage of vagina land and frequent the big girl weights!  I am going to start lifting heavy again and really appreciate what my body can do.  I am allowed to run a mile every other day for a week and then SLOWLY increase my mileage and days I run.  Today means run day and additional cardio!  Super excited!

Have you conquered any fears lately??
Have a great day!!

After 7 weeks.

Long time no type!  With renovating our house, taking care of my family, and being busy at work, I have had no time to blog!  None, zip, zilch.  I have been working out and doing my own spin cardio.  I am in dyre need of a physical goal though.  I have just been going through the motions at the gym and need that goal to push me.  It also isn't fun to workout by yourself all the time either.  Yes, it is nice when you want to be focused and not chatty cathy, but other times you WANT that competitiveness and extra push to get you through a gooooood workout!

I decided I would start at least lifting heavier and with a more definite plan when I do weights.  Yesterday was leg day!!!
Leg Day
Superset:5x10-20lb barbell
Squats
Leg curls
Giant set:
Reverse barbell lunges 2x8
Step ups 2x12
Leg extensions-2x failure

I was a little shakey after that!!

The best part of yesterday's workout though was me being allowed to try and run a mile.  How did it go?! I felt like this.....
Source

Yep, I grinned the entire mile.  I took it slow and did a 10 min mile and had NO PAIN!  It has been 7 lonnnnnng weeks without running and I can't tell you how much I have missed it.  It is my way to push myself.  It is my way to let go. It is my way to have fun.  It is my time!  I have confirmed that yes, I am a RUNNER!
I am going to not run for the next day or so, just to let my back rest some.  Lord knows I do NOT want to hurt myself again!  I will slowly add in miles and get back to half marathons as soon as I physically can.  I do have one this weekend, but I am not running it.  I thought about walking it with my best friend, BUT the thought of walking 3+ hours makes me want to cry of boredom.   I just can't do it.

Would you walk it?  Just because you paid for it?
I hope everyone is doing great!

Have a good Thursday!

Been a while

Hey there!  I hope everyone is fine and dandy.

A lot has been going on at the Ferrell house.  We have been renovating like crazy.  We made ourselves a goal to have everything done by October 15th and then we would call our realtor to come back out ant put out house on the market.  It is amazing all of the things you find that need to be updated!  Sheesh.  Plus its $20 here, $50 there!  Those little bills are adding up!  But they are things that needed to be done.

I have been spinning in classes or on my own when there isn't a class going on.  I would love it if our gym had a early morning spin class.  Maybe I could get my instructor license and have the gym create a class for me!  Hmmm now there is a thought!

Ava has been teething and it has been her worst teething experience yet.  Fever, runny nose.  I think her incisors and bottom(whatever they are called) are coming in all at once!  Poor baby!  I wonder why God made teething painful for them.  Its not like they can tell us what is wrong or what they need.

This past Saturday was hard for me.  I had to miss out on the Nashville Women's 1/2 Marathon.  I did go get my race packet on Friday, but I couldn't go through the expo because I was fighting back tears.  The entire "race time" on Saturday morning I kept thinking, "I would be about so and so miles in"  "I would be eating a GU chomp about now," "I would be crossing the finish line about now."  Alas, it was rough.  Because of my back injury in August and not being able to run, I decided, even though I have no pain in daily activities, I would not do the 1/2.  I am still not running, so that it my bulging disc continues to heal and I don't reinjure it.
I'm thinking I will try and jog in a few weeks to see how things are going.  Until then it is spinning and weights.

Work has been crazy.  It has now taken me 2.5 hours to type this post!  Busy is good though.  It makes the day go by so much quicker!!

What has been going on in your neck of the woods??

Have a great day!

Weekend wrap up

It is Monday already!!!  Sheesh lady!  Where did the weekend go?
Oh yeah I know.....

Friday night
Clint and I left Ava with my brother and his fiance while we went on a date.  Where might you ask?  SUbway and Kroger!  Oh yes!  We love unconventional dates.  Just being able to get away for a couple of hours alone is cherished time.  Plus I just like the man!  We have so much fun together even grocery shopping!

Saturday
We went to the gym!!  There was SUPPOSED to be a class at 9:30 that I wanted to take, but apparently did NOT get the menu that there wasn't.  So what did I do??
I taught my own spin class!  Yep I put on Pandora on my phone to some hip hop and for 30 minutes whatever song came on is how I road, i.e. slow beat I did standing climbs, upbeat songs I did sprints and jumps.  If I do say so myself, I'm not so bad of an instructor!!
After getting my sweat on, I did upper body to balance things out.
15lb DBs
Bicep curls 2x10
Shoulder pres 2x10
15lb Barbell
Upright rows 2x10
Skull crushers 2x10
Close grip chest pres 2x10

On to house chores....
Our friend Adam came up to help Clint pressure wash the house.  We cleaned out the garage.  Clint's dad and girlfriend stopped by for a few, but Ava was needing a nap B.A.D.L.Y so they didn't stay that long.  We took 2 truck loads to our new storage unit to begin decluttering.

Sunday
Church
Home for lunch, oh let me tell ya what we had.  We saw on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives a BLT with avocado slices.  We tried it for lunch (with turkey bacon) and OMG so good!!!  You should try it!!
Then off to get a birthday present for our niece and we ended up getting Ava's Halloween costume. SO CUTE!! Not going to show you yet! It is a surprise of course!
On to the birthday party in Bowling Green, KY.  It was fun, but the best part was seeing how much Ava LOVED the trampline.  (it had a net around it and I was on there with her, in case you started to freak out!) She would "try" to bounce and laugh, I would bounce her while I was sitting dow, she would laugh.  She would fall and laugh!  The monkey absolutely had a blast!  It made my day!

Did you have a good weekend?
Anything that "made your day?"

Have a great day!!!

Real quick

Hi, TGIF!!
I have a few minutes and I wanted to brag tell you about my Publix trip yesterday.
Now, I spend a total of $23.56!
This is all I got:
4 boxes of Cinnamon toast crunch
2 boxes of Cascadian Farms cereal
1 box Fiber one cereal
2 bottles of Bull's Eye BBQ sauce
2 bottles Coffee mate Natural Bliss coffee creamer
3 dozen eggs
2 yoplait smoothies (freezer section)
2 2pk yoplait yogurt with granola
Flatout crisps
2 20oz diet cokes
1 jar Planters Peanut butter
1 clif bar
1 degree deoderant
all for $23.96!!!!  The cereal alone should have cost that!  I consider this my hobby but also my "part time" job.  I have an excel sheet that I keep track of my receipts and coupons and money spent.  In the last 3 months, we have saved OVER $1000.00!  I am pretty proud of myself.
*Disclaimer...I am a couponer, but REFUSE to be the type that takes EVERY ITEM OFF THE SHELF.  I mean who needs 1000 boxes of cereal.  I stock up for a few months on certain items.  Plus who has that much storage space?!?!?!

In other news, my boss/chiropractor is going to evaluate my back today to see when he thinks I can try to run. YIPPPEEEE SKIPPY!!!!  If he says not, then spinning, weights, and the elliptical will continue to be my workout choices.  Not bad choices!  I know what it is like to not be able to do ANY exercise, so I will take what I can get!!

Have a great weekend!  Do you have any fun plans?

Sweat so good!

Good morning on this mid-week day!  Yesterday, (my "day off") we were meeting our realtor to discuss the possibility of selling our house.  That meant EXTREME CLEANING for this chick!  I dropped Ava off at my parent's house and for 4+ hours I deep cleaned the mess out of our house!  I'm the type of person who gets anxiety over clutter and mess.  BUT when it is cluttered a lot I get overwhelmed by the insanity that I avoid it!  But once I start, it is all good!!  I feel so much better that things are spic and span!

The meeting went well.  We are meeting in about a month after we have fixed a few things (painting the rooms "boring real estate beige", pressure washing, and fixing our driveway) These are all things we knew we needed to fix, so there was no surprise there.  We also decided to get a storage unit and DECLUTTER the house. I am SUPER excited about this.  Being of the clutter anxiety type, this will lift my spirits tremendously!

Clint had a Wallyball date with some friends at 6pm and there was a spin class at 6:15pm.  My back is so much better and I'm still not ready to run, so I thought "what the heck, I'll try to take the class and see what happens."
So how was it?

1. It felt so good to get back on that bike!  It has been like 6 months since I took a spin class because running has been my #1 cardio love.
2. It's like "riding a bike."  haha The form and competitive edge was all there!
3. I had my first sweaty workout (and I mean gross sweaty) in 5 weeks since I hurt my back and I LOVED IT!!!
4. The instructor was good!  That always helps.  Some instructors....not so great!
5. I am a little sore this morning! I LOVE being sore!  Crazy I know!

Did you workout yesterday?
What are some cosmetic things that need "fixing" at your house or apt? It seems like there is always something!

Have a great day!

Weekend recap Monday!

Hey there!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Ours was busy!  We are renovating our bathrooms and that has created a mess in our house and many many runs to Home Depot!
Saturday
My dad had some extra mulch he wanted to get rid of so he came over at 7am on Saturday morning and we put mulch out on our flower beds.  We are morning people so doing this that early was no big deal for us.  Ava was up "helping" too!
We finished and headed to the gym!!!!  Yep, we went to the gym!  It has been (almost) 5 WEEKS since I stepped into that stress relieving oasis of mine.
Workout
(using barbell with 12lbs on each side)
Bent knee deadlifts 3x15
Upright rows 3x15
Squat with knee lifts 3x30
Bicep curls 3x15
Stationary lunges 3x15/leg
Bent over rows 3x15
20 min on the elliptical.....PAIN FREE!
Although I can walk and move around with little to no pain in my back and leg and am still leery of running.  I want to SOOOO badly, but know I need to be cautious because I do feel better!

We ran some errands (Target and Home Depot).  Had our first choking experience at HD with Ava.  On 2 cheerios!  I put her face down and hit her on the back while Clint finger sweeped her mouth and got them out!  Good thing we took infant choking!  But really instinct took over!  Bless her heart (and her mama's).  She was scared and crying.  Ugh so heart stopping!

Sunday
We went to church and then headed home for lunch and more house stuff.  Our realtor is coming over tomorrow to discuss possibly selling and what we need to do to around the house to sell.  So getting things cleaned and in order is top priority until then.  Ava and I took a break and went to CVS and Walmart.  I have to tell you about my CVS trip. My loot:
Charmin 16pk toilet paper x3
Purina dogfood 4lb bags x2
Purina prepared food
Dawn dishliquid
Finish dishwasher power gels
Powerbar Plus x7
Deer Park 3L H20 x3
Lipton Diet green tea x2
Softsoap body wash
Total came to $117 and I paid $36!!!!!
I was super excited about this!!!

Do you coupon?
Have you ever sold your house??

Have a great day!
