Hey there! The week is almost over! This is what we woke up to yesterday morning.
I had brought some work home, so it wasn't a total waste of work hours.
Ava had her "work" too! (Her mama is a bookworm, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!)
Because of the snow, we weren't able to go to the gym last night for Spin class, boo! I had talked myself out of doing any exercise, but my wonderful husband talking me into doing the a workout on our Xbox 369 Kinect we got for Christmas. (he knew I would feel better mentally and physically if I did something productive! Such a smart man!)
What is Kinect?
Magic Disguised as Technology
With Kinect for Xbox 360, you are the controller. Easy to use and instantly fun, Kinect gets your whole body in the game. Imagine controlling movies and music with the wave of a hand or the sound of your voice. With Kinect, technology evaporates, letting the natural magic in all of us shine. And the best part is Kinect works with every Xbox 360.
Motion Sensor
Kinect uses a motion sensor that tracks your entire body. So when you play, it’s not only about your hands and wrists. It’s about all of you. Arms, legs, knees, waist, hips and so on.
Skeletal Tracking
As you play, Kinect creates a digital skeleton of you based on depth data. So when you move left or right or jump around, the sensor will capture it and put you in the game.
We have a monthly membership with Gamefly. It is like Netflix for video games. If your husband or signifcant other gets bored fast with video games, this is a great idea!!! Clint put on his account for
to come in the mail for me. So, I tried it out. First, I did a fitness assessment and then you get to pick what routine, cardio, toning, etc for your custom workout. Because it scan my skeleton, it accurately tells you how many calories you burn during the session! I did the cardio routine, to get me booty up and moving. Let me tell you, I was sweating after 30 minutes of "easy" cardio moves. Ava was laughing at me in her "Jenny Jump Up" and Clint didn't hide any snickers either! All in all, it wasn't a hard workout, but it was something. I am going to have to try the other custom workouts it has set up for me!
Do you have a Kinect or a Wii?? Do you find it beneficial? In other news, I talked to my mom about her "worrying" about my being "too skinny." I told her I appreciate her worry, but there is no need! I told her I am not going down that road again because I need to be healthy for me and Ava. She said she just worries and wants me to be healthy for me to have more grandkids(haha, I thought this was humorous). Even though, I said I was over it, she opened up an old would the other day. Up until yesterday's Kinect extravaganza, I had been having negative thoughts and asking myself questions like:
-Am I really am too skinny?
-Am I not seeing the forest for the trees?
-Am I working out too much ?
-Am I eating too clean?
-Why not eat some pretzels? They have no nutritional value and I can afford to eat some crap?
-Just go get the jar of peanut butter and a spoon!
The answers to these questions are:
I am not to skinny where I am now. I could be on the line, but don't plan on getting smaller/thinner.
Clint would tell me if I was getting into dangerous territory again.
I only workout a hour a day 3-4 days a week.
I like eating clean and not feeling gross.
Count out a portion if you want some, but DO NOT eat out of the bag.
This is a BAD idea. I do not have a healthy relationship with PB. I choose to stay away!
(I know this is frowned upon; having something be off limits, but I know my limits and PB is a dark hole.)
I am happy! I choose to not let her words affect me negatively. I choose to not thing negative questions of myself that are not true. I choose to see the TRUTH!!
How do you deal with negative thoughts or questions??
Have a great Thursday!!

I lost 10kg using the Wii when we were gearing up for IVF. We got a kinect in the boxing day sales so I can get to work on losing my extra... so far I really like it but it can be hard work! I've got the fitness game, the zumba one and the dance one (as well as a few others but they're what I work out to). I hope I see better results than with the Wii!
ReplyDeleteI like your honesty in this post! I think the mental aspect is half (3/4??) the battle. I personally believe it's okay to workout and eat a clean diet if it doesn't become an obsession...if you do let yourself have some of the foods you are truly craving.
ReplyDeleteDoes your grocery store sell peanut butter in bulk? I wonder if you could start small to learn how to keep PB in the house and eat it in moderation. Maybe start by getting only 1-2 Tbsp. and increase when you feel comfortable? Just a thought...
Colin's brother just got us a Wii for a late Christmas gift and he told me there's a world of fitness out there. I've never used it but I could see myself doing it on a snow day or something!
