38 weeks+

How far along? 38 weeks 2 days

How big is baby? Average size: nearly 7 pounds

Average length: 19 1/2 inches, head to heel.

What is baby doing this week? "Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb."

What about mama? "For many women, the next couple of weeks are a waiting game. Use this time to prepare your baby's nursery or to take care of necessary tasks you may not get around to for a while after your baby's born. Take naps, catch up on your reading, and spend uninterrupted time with your partner while you can."

Dr. appt update:
Weight: same as last week.  No weight gain in 6 weeks, but Brody has plenty to steal from his mama!
Pee cup: normal
Blood pressure:116/72
Fundal height: measuring at 38weeks
Cervix check: I am still 2.5cm, but am now 80% effaced.  Although, that is so exciting and I am progressing, it still doesn't mean I could go into labor any second.  It could be a week or so.  WHich makes me sad, because I am ready!  My body has been practicing and I am ready to go!

Work: Yep, I will be working until Brody decided it is game time!

Movement: Slowing down, but when he is moving it it very strong!

Cravings: Nothing really.  I really don't have much of a appetite.

What I miss? Doing normal things.

What I am looking forward to: Going in to true labor and not all of this false sh*t!

Milestones: Less than 2 weeks until his due date.

How is daddy? Just as anxious as I am.  He has started texting me and checking on me.

How is Ava? She is ready for him.  She says "he is going to be a baby and be here soon. I'm going to be a good big sister!"

Not quite sure

Morning!  So after going to TSC for dogfood, Best Buy for something for our old laptop, and Trader Joe's, and the park to try and "catch the birds" and watch the ducks, I had my 35 week check up yesterday and things were....interesting.

Pee in a cup-no worries there
Weight-The scale hasn't moved in 4 weeks.
Blood Pressure-104/58
Brody's heartbeat-143
Fundal height-She measured 34....but he has been a week ahead the entire pregnancy.
Strep B swab-lovely.....I'll find out results some time.

Before I left she wanted me to go down and get an ultrasound.  She was a little concerned because I haven't gained any weight and she "thought" Brody was measuring behind.
So, with the hint of concern, Ava and I walked down to the ultrasound office and waited to jump in on the schedule. We only had to weight about 30 minutes and then were able to see his beautiful self on the screen!
After the tech took all of his measurements, he is perfect!  He (guesstimation) weighs about 5lbs 9oz. On paper as of yesterday I was 34 weeks 6days, but according to his measurements and growth I am 35 weeks and 4 days, so about 5 ish days ahead.  Not sure if that will affect my labor, but who knows!!

So, I am not sure where I am in this pregnancy.  I'll just say I have about 4 weeks and that should take care of it!
Have a great day!

34 weeks 6 days

How far along? 34 weeks 6 days

How big is baby? Average size: nearly five pounds.

Average Length: 12.8 inches (crown to rump)

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Your unborn baby's muscles are maturing along with the rest of his body. He can hold his head up and turn it from side to side. He'll practice his newfound muscle tone by stretching out his arms and kicking his legs.  Most of the lanugo is gone and replaced with a thick coat of vernix."

What about mama?  Babyzone.com says "By now you're getting used to the backaches, leg cramps, and other pains that come with the final weeks of pregnancy. You may also experience swelling in your ankles and feet, and sometimes in your face and hands. The swelling is caused in part by pregnancy hormones, which encourage your body to hang on to water to fuel a variety of baby-growing needs. Try drinking plenty of water and elevating your feet as much as possible to relieve swelling. Don't worry—most of your uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms will disappear once you deliver. In some cases—five to 10 percent of pregnancies—persistent swelling may be a sign of a potentially serious condition called preeclampsia. Your healthcare provider will be checking you regularly, however, to make sure that you do not have this condition."

How far along? 26 weeks and 2 days
How big is baby?

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "This week your baby-to-be opens his eyes for the first time. She'll open and shut his eyes as he gets used to his new ability. Your little one is still on the small side. His body may look fully formed on the outside, but inside there's fine-tuning taking place, including his lungs and brain. Your unborn baby still has some growing to do!"

What is going on in mama? Pregnancy induced Allergies are still here, but very mild now.  Local honey and QB Complex work wonders.

21-22 weeks!

Hidey Ho lovies!!!!    Here is the weekly update to peruse!!

How far along? 22 weeks

How big is baby? Average size:just over 12 ounces (a coke can!) Length: About 11in from head to toe.

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Your baby's brain is growing daily. Her senses are also starting develop. She can hear the sound of your heart along with your breathing. As she wiggles her fingers, she may touch her face or even suck her thumb. Her lungs are becoming more mature, and she even goes through the motions of breathing. She can also swallow, although she won't have her first real meal until delivery day."

What is going on in mama?  This is what I wrote at 22 weeks with Ava and I feel like it is deja vu......"Growth!  Mama is having a hard time adjusting to this body to be honest.  I am just NOT understanding how my husband thinks I am beautiful.  I believe him when he tells me, but a piece of me is like "how"?  This past week my mental aspect has been working overtime!!  I just need to get over it and accept this body is a vessel for the beautiful blessing that we have made."
I do not do well pregnant!

19 weeks and 20 weeks

How far along? Half way, 20 weeks
How big is baby? Average size: 9oz, Length: 6in (crown to rump)

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "By week 20, your baby-to-be is gearing up for the next phase in her development—filling out. Her organs are getting into their proper places. Her kidneys are now in position with their familiar bean shape. Her ovaries have reached their position. Her brain continues to form and grow. Herr teeth are beginning to appear, and she can swallow. If you haven't been able to feel him move, chances are you'll be feeling him move more and more over the coming weeks."

What is going on in mama? Growing steadily as I should.

Symptoms: Nothing really.  Random bouts of hunger.

Total weight gain: It has continued to slow down.

Maternity clothes: Dresses and leggings.  I'm not a huge fans of maternity pants.

Sleep: Fine I suppose.  Sweating and weird dreams have started up.

Best moment last week: Feeling Brody more consistently.

Movement: I'm starting to notice a pattern like I did with Ava.  Brody is mid-morning and later in the afternoon.

Cravings: Still rocking the healthy eating.  No desire for sweets really!

Belly Button in or out: Slowly creeping closer to the surface.

What I miss:  Sometimes I feel like this body is someone else's.  Each time I pass a mirror  I think WHO IS THAT???

What I am looking forward to: More actual kicks and less flutters.  Although, I will probably regret this later!

Milestones: It is all down hill now!

How is daddy? He's still the greatest!

How far along? Half way, 20 weeks
How big is baby? Average size: 9oz, Length: 6in (crown to rump)

What is going on in mama? Growing steadily as I should.

Symptoms: Nothing really.  I 'm still feeling great!!

Total weight gain: At the Big U/S appt with the substitute doc, I had gained 7, so a total of 13.  Although, that is ok and in range, I seem to be conscious of what I eat and make sure I exercise each day!  I don't want to get in trouble at our next appt.

Maternity clothes: Pants yes.  I can't actually fit in them now!

Sleep: Fine I suppose.  I can't seem to sleep past 6am though.  This is kind of gross but I wake up sweating so much!!!  Apparently, I am a furnace now!

Best moment last week: Our U/S and seeing our healthy baby girl, Ava.

Movement: I'm starting to notice a pattern.  Early in the morning I feel her slightly, mid-day after lunch she does her daily flutter kicks, and around 9pm.  It's the most amazing thing. Makes me smile every time!

Cravings: None really that I can think of.  ODD!

Belly Button in or out: Slowly creeping closer to the surface.

What I miss:  Sometimes I feel like this body is someone else's.  Each time I pass a mirror (not hard to do when they line the walls of my gym!) I think WHO IS THAT???  But it is worth it!

What I am looking forward to: More actual kicks and less flutters.  Although, I will probably regret this later!

Milestones: It is all down hill now!

How is daddy? He still the greatest!

How is Ava?  She knows I have a baby in my belly and makes the connection that Brody is her brother.  She prays for the baby and for Ava a big sister.  Sweetest prayer ever!

18 weeks and 5 days

Hi there! This is a little late, but better late than never!!!

How far along? 18w5d

How big is baby?   Average size: 5.6 inches, 6.7 oz.  A glorious Sweet TATA!!!

What is baby doing this week? thebump.com says  "Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon."

What is going on in mama? Babyzone.com says "By now you're feeling your baby-to-be wiggle inside you. The excitement surrounding her first movements will probably help you forget some of your pregnancy woes. As your tummy continues to expand you may notice stretch marks and have itchy skin. Your back will ache as your body adjusts to its new alignment. Thankfully, nausea is mostly likely a distant memory."
I am definatley growing that's for sure.  The women who didn't know I was pregnant at my gym, were in full comment force this week. Apparently, I got pregnant overnight!  Whoo-hoo no more chubby monkey!

Symptoms: Pregnancy brain!!!!

Total weight gain: Not sure exactly.  I have a guesstimate, but it has finally slowed down.

Exercise:  Honestly, not much working out.  Which has had me feeling good about that.  I can just enjoy the rest of the pregnancy and workout hard core the rest of my life!  And that WILL happen!

Maternity clothes: Um that or shirts I can still finagle to wear.

Sleep: Not fantastic, but not horrible so I can't complain.

Best moment last week: Drum roll please........I felt the baby. AND......We found out the gender.  I will reveal that after we have finished telling people in real life!

Movement: YES!!!!, slight flutters here and there.

Cravings: No new ones this week really.  I'm pretty much a creature of habit!

Belly Button in or out: Still in! Going to the shallow end of the pool though!

What I miss:

What I am looking forward to:

Milestones: Finally feeling Baby #2 consistently.

How is daddy: Happy as a clam!

17 weeks with #2

How far along? 17+
How big is baby?Average size: 5.1 inches, 5.9 oz. An onion!  Good thing Baby F doesn't smell like one!

What is baby doing this week? thebump.com says that Baby F's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

What is going on in mama? Babyzone.com says that daily, your body's changing inside and out to accommodate your baby-to-be. As your skin stretches, your breasts and abdomen may become itchy. Your baby bump will begin to change your posture so that your back may ache.(Good thing I get adjusted every other day!!!)
Inside your body, your stomach is getting more cramped, sometimes leading to heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence. You may also notice mood swings as pregnancy hormones continue to play with your emotions.

Symptoms: Flatulence is a big one!  Sheesh!

Total weight gain: N/A

Exercise: I have stopped getting up at 3:30am on work days.  Not because I can't, but because my body needs the sleep instead.  I am using weights/bands 4 times a week and trying to get in 15-20 miles of running.

Maternity clothes: I am wearing dresses to work and lounge clothes at home.

Sleep: Weird and crazy dreams, but sleeping ok!

Best Interesting moment last week: A patient of the office who JUST noticed I was pregnant yesterday, asked when I was due and then proceeded to ask if I was having twins!!  Um.....

Movement: Some times I think it is a flutter, but could be gas! I felt Ava's flutters for sure at 18 weeks, so it could be very soon!

Cravings: None really besides healthy foods. My GIGANTIC appetite has slowed a bit.

Belly Button in or out: Still in! Although, getting more shallow.

What I miss: The only thing I miss is being able to work out balls to the wall and feel great after a good sweaty, exhausting workout.

What I am looking forward to: Our church consignment sale this weekend, to buy cheap baby things.  Neutral of course until next week!

Milestones: None that I know this week.

How is daddy? Very supportive in my emotional breakdowns.

We find out the sex March 7th!!  1 week from today!!!!!

Thursday, February 14, 2013

15.3 week update

How far along?15+

How big is baby? A navel orange.   Average size: 4 inches, 2.5 oz.

What is baby doing this week? Baby F's bones are continuing to grow and lengthen. While he/she looks more like a baby, his/her skin is still thin and translucent with her veins visible.  baby F is also beginning to grow lanugo, a very fine hair. It will keep growing until around the 26th gestational week of pregnancy (that's week 28 of your pregnancy).

Symptoms: I actually feel really good.  Not tired (as much), no headaches, no nausea, random hunger.

Total weight gain

Maternity clothes: Oh Yes, no more regular pants.

Sleep: No complaints.

Best moment last week: A patient from work asked "very carefully" if I was expecting.  He didn't want to be wrong, so he tiptoed around the question and guestured with his hand. No more awkward pudge! This baby is no longer hiding!
(*Disclaimer...about to talk about God for a second).
Oh and I did have a good long chat with God the other day.  I have been soooo focused on this extreme weight gain.  I've been counting calories and still running over 30 miles a week and still gaining like crazy! It doesn't make sense to me.  I guess I whined one too many mes, because Clint said some things that we are a wake up call to me! I was being so selfish and vain.  What I looked like and what I was "supposed" to be gaining were completely overshadowing our baby and the fact that me and the baby are healthy!  That is and from now on is the MOST important. Not that it wasn't, but Satan was using my selfishness to put that over the baby!  I feel so much better after my long prayer to God about it. I am no longer tracking calories(hard for me not to do) and only eating when hungry!  Although, that seems to be ALL the time!!!

Movement: Not yet. But it "should" be soon!

Food cravings: Salads, with block cheddar cheese that is shredded, light ranch and croutons!

Belly Button in or out: Still in!

What I miss: Enjoying this last pregnacy!

What I am looking forward to: Our gender reveal on March 12th!

Milestones: hmmm....not sure haha

How is daddy? He is good!  He is so awesome to me!

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Will someone tell Ava today is her due date?!?!?

How far along?  40 weeks

How big is baby? Average size: 7 1/2 lbs. A small pumpkin.  It sure does feel that way.

Average length: about 20 inches head to heel

What is baby doing this week? "It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary."

What about mama? So ready!!
Food for thought.....Old Wives tales to get labor going are a shot in the dark.  We have tried eating pineapple, walking, nipple stimulation(awkward), and sex (although this has been not only for labor inducing, but pure enjoyment as well.)  Girls, it can still happen at 39 weeks pregnant!!!

Dr. appt update:
Weight: up 1.5lbs. Total gain 34ish

Pee cup: normal although i need stretch armstrong arms to get down there!!

Blood pressure: Still Excellent.

Fundal height: 39 weeks
Cervix check: 3.5cm!!!  Still 70% effaced.

U/S: The tech says she is weighing in at about 7lbs 5oz.  This could be off either way by 15% though.  I could easily have a high 6lber or low 8lber!  EEEKKK!!!  Everything looks great though and she looks healthy, BUT SMOOSHED in there poor thing.  We kept telling her last night to come on out because there is so much more room to stretch out, eat, breath and not be upside down out in the world.

*Dr. did sweep my membranes again!!  So we will see if this time works.  IF she doesn't decide to come on here own, we are scheduled to induce on Tuesday!!!!

Sleep: My body is already ready for getting up multiple times with Ava.

Best moment of the week: Our ultrasound yesterday.  She is still a girl.  There is always that anxiety that the u/s tech could be wrong. But she wasn't.

Movement: Very painful.  Little Ava-bug is running out of room.

Cravings: I have been really healthy this pregnancy, eating well and exercising.  This past week it has went down the drain.  Clint and I both are putting it all away(in our mouths) and enjoying the things we typically don't eat.  Once Ava is here, he wants to hit the weights hard again and I want to lose the baby weight and after the doc ok's it hit the weights again too.  Eating not so healthy (ice cream everyday) is getting old though.  I honestly don't know how people do it.  I feel so ugh!!

What I miss? My body being under my control!

What I am looking forward to: Ava being here!

Milestones: Due date.  Although, NO ONE thought I would be here!

How is daddy? This anxiety and waiting is just as hard on him.  I have "had" her with me for 10 months and he is so ready for daddy and Ava time.

Friday, July 23, 2010

6 days(I pray earlier)

How far along? 39 weeks 1 day
How big is baby? Average size: a bit over 7lbs(a mini watermelon)

Average length: about 20 inches head to heel
What is baby doing this week? "Your baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth.  The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath."

What about mama?  "At each of your now-weekly visits, your caregiver will do an abdominal exam to check your baby's growth and position. She might also do an internal exam to see whether your cervix has started ripening: softening, effacing (thinning out), and dilating (opening). But even armed with this information, there's still no way for your caregiver to predict exactly when your baby is coming. If you go past your due date, your caregiver will schedule you for fetal testing (usually a sonogram) after 40 weeks to ensure that it's safe to continue the pregnancy. If you don't go into labor on your own, most practitioners will induce labor when you're between one and two weeks overdue — or sooner if there's an indication that the risk of waiting is greater than the risks of delivering your baby without further delay.

While you're waiting, it's important to continue to pay attention to your baby's movements and let your caregiver know right away if they seem to decrease. Your baby should remain active right up to delivery, and a noticeable slowdown in activity could be a sign of a problem. Also call if you think your water may have broken. Membranes rupture before the beginning of labor in about 8 percent of term pregnancies. Sometimes there's a big gush of fluid, but sometimes there's only a small gush or a slow leak. (Don't try to make the diagnosis yourself. Call even if you only suspect you have a leak.) If you rupture your membranes and don't start contractions on your own, you'll be induced."

Dr. appt update:
Weight: up 1/2 a lb.  Total gain 32lbs
Pee cup: normal
Blood pressure: Excellent
Fundal height: 38weeks(still doesn't mean much)
Cervix check: Still at 3cm, 70% effaced and as low as she is going to get until labor.
*Dr. did sweep my membranes though.  It was a little uncomfortable as she goes back and forth massaging my membranes to get them to produce the hormone prostaglandins.  This is supposed to aid in labor inducing naturally. It is supposed to work better if one is dilated and thinned and should work in up to 48hours.  NO LUCK YET!!

 Sleep: Very uncomfortable!!!
Best moment of the week: EVERYTHING is ready for her!
Movement: Painful!
Cravings: Nothing really these days.
What I miss? Comfort.
What I am looking forward to: Going in to labor.  I know some women are scared of labor, but I am not.  The sooner I go into labor, the sooner our baby girl will be here.  We are ready to be parents and need a baby to do that for real!!
Milestones:6 days until due date.
How is daddy? Just as anxious as I am.

2 weeks to go (maybe)

Actually about 1/4 lb lost,
Pee cup: normal
Blood pressure: Excellent
Fundal height: measuring at 37 weeks (that measurement these days doesn't mean much though)
Cervix check: I am 3cm and 70% effaced and -2 station!!!  Although, that is so exciting and I am progressing, it still doens't mean I could go into labor any second.  It could be a week or so.

Let me tell you how I really am. First off, I have had a perfect and healthy pregnancy and I am very blessed.  BUT, since Thursday I have hit the  "miserable as SH*t" stage.  I had some strong contractions about 3am Thursday morning that must have shifted her permanently.  Her rear is further the side of my belly right under/in my ribs.  I can't lay, sit, or stand for more than 20 minutes at a time with ehr being just so painful.  I think she is getting too bog for my small frame and belly.  I have severe lightning crotch that makes me say "EEEK" when it happens.  There is so much pressure when I pee that it feels like she is going to fall out. I cry a lot.

My last day of work was Thursday, since it is so uncomfortable and hard to get around.  We want her to come so badly.  I am ready to go through the pain, so we can see our sweet baby Ava's face.  We are ready for a baby and not a huge belly!

We are also getting tired of people telling us when she can and can't come.  My family has a pool of when she will be born and that is fine, but don't tell me she can't come because you have something to do or will be out of town.  SHE WILL COME WHEN SHE WANTS TO.  We just want her to be here for the love of everything good and holy.
Vent and whining session over!

Sleep: Not so fun.  It hurts about every 20 minutes and turning over is a comical event. Peeing is pretty consistent.  I took two cat naps yesterday!

Best moment last week? Hearing  I am progressing very well for a 1st timer.

Movement: Slowing down.  She just shifts a little.

Cravings: Nothing really these days.

What I miss? A comfortable pregnancy.

What I am looking forward to: Going in to true labor and not all of this false sh*t!

Milestones: Less than 2 weeks until her due date.

How is daddy? Just as anxious as I am.  Irritated with people as well.

Ava please come out!!!!

How far along? 36 weeks

How big is baby? Average size:  almost 6 pounds  Average Length: more than 18 1/2 inches, head to heel

What is baby doing this week? "Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly."

What about mama? "Now that your baby is taking up so much room, you may have trouble eating a normal-size meal. Smaller, more frequent meals are often easier to handle at this point. On the other hand, you may have less heartburn and have an easier time breathing when your baby starts to "drop" down into your pelvis. This process — called lightening — often happens a few weeks before labor if this is your first baby. (If you've given birth before, it probably won't happen before labor starts.) If your baby drops, you may also feel increased pressure in your lower abdomen, which may make walking increasingly uncomfortable, and you'll probably find that you have to pee even more frequently. If your baby is very low, you may feel lots of vaginal pressure and discomfort as well. Some women say it feels as though they're carrying a bowling ball between their legs!

You might also notice that your Braxton Hicks contractions are more frequent now. Be sure to review the signs of labor with your practitioner and find out when she wants to hear from you."

Dr. update:
Ava's heartbeat was up at 159. Nothing to worry about.
My weight was up a lb. Normal!
Blood pressure: Superb
Strep b test: Done. I will find out results next week, but I am not worried either way.
Fundal height-Right on at 36 weeks.
Internals will start at 38 weeks.
She said that we have hit the point that if we do go into labor that they would not stop it!  Whoo hoo!!

Symptoms: Still swelling in the ankles dept.  I started having honest to goodness contractions last Saturday.  They are mild and I only have about 2/day.  I wasn't sure, but when we went to our 26 week appt yesterday, our doc said yep that is contractions.

(Here is how mine feel. Everyone is different.  My lower back starts to hurt and then it feels like period cramps in my lower belly/pelvic area.  It only lasts about a min or so.)

Maternity clothes: No other way.

Sleep: I get naps at night.  The other night I set a record for peeing 5 times!  5 times!  Can you believe that?  I have to cut myself off of liquids around 8 now.

Best moment last week? Feeling contractions.  I know I am odd, but I am ready for Ava Quinn F to be here!!

Movement: She is still head down and is pretty much in the same spot, BUT her movements are so much more predominant and she has hit the "alien in mama's belly, trying to get out" stage.
Cravings: Nothing new.
Belly Button in or out: It's in, until I sit down and then it starts to poke out.

What I miss? The simple things my body used to do that I took for granted.
What I am looking forward to:
Milestones: If we go in labor it is ok.

How is daddy? As anxious for her to be here as I am.

6 weeks and counting

How far along? 34 weeks

Symptoms: Swelling in the ankles has started! Whoopee! I try to drink as much as I can, but the catch 22 is that you have to pee all the dang time. I am starting to get uncomfortable. She is starting to get big and sits awkwardly. Braxton Hiccups(Clint's word) come and go.

My left hand knuckles have started being really achy. To the point where I can't do some things with my left hand. According to google, it is normal and caused by water retention!

Maternity clothes: From here on out, no other choice,

Sleep: I'll have two good nights of sleep and then here comes a not so great night!  Last night, was a not so great night.

Best moment last week? Our last shower at church.  We are overwhelmed by the love given to us and Ava in the baby showers we have.
Look at all of this loot!

Movement: Crazy uncomfortable at times, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Cravings: Subway and Diet coke(fountain drink)

Belly Button in or out: same as last week.

What I miss? Sleeping on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to: Seeing her beautiful face!!

Milestones: Getting to the stage of pregnancy that normal daily activites are not possible for me to do!!

How is daddy? He has put together the dresser, changing table, travel system, and helped me witht he pack n play, as well as helped me organize Ava's room.  He is definately a hands on daddy!  Boy I love that kid!!

8 months pregnant

How far along? 33 weeks
How big is baby? Average size: a little over 4 pounds ( a pineapple)

Average Length: more than 17 inches, head to heel

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Babyzone.com says"Your unborn baby's senses continue to develop. If you talk to your baby, she can hear you. In fact, her world is full of sounds. In addition to your voice, she can hear your stomach growling and your lungs taking in air, along with the reassuring vibrations of your heart beating. Also, your baby's skin has turned from red to pink and she has started preparing for life outside the womb by storing iron in her liver."

What about mama?Babyzone says, "With delivery day quickly approaching, you may already be feeling some false contractions, called Braxton Hicks. At times, you may notice your abdomen tighten and then relax. Braxton Hicks contractions help your body gear up for the real thing. If you take time to relax and put your feet up, the contractions should go away. Snagging some sleep becomes harder as your belly makes it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. "

*The Braxton Hiccups, as Clint calls them, have started and come on sporadically. They don't hurt, they just make my belly as hard as a rock.
Doctor's appt went good yesterday.  I have been having some lower back pain that the doc told me to watch and be aware of.

Symptoms: Sleep is now starting to get harder.  I was up the other morning at 3:30am and couldn't get comfortable.  That was a long day!! Braxtons are occurring. My belly is getting HUGE!

Maternity clothes: Those tshirts I retired last week, well a friend suggested tank tops underneath them.  Genius!  I don't know why I didn't think about that!

Sleep:Talked about above in symptoms.

Best moment last week? Our couples' shower last Saturday. Pics to come!

Movement: Please and thank you!

Cravings: Oddly enough, Diet coke.  But only fountain diet coke.  I don't like it in a bottle or can.

Belly Button in or out: The edges poke out if I sit funny.  It is a little embarrassing to me actually. I don't know why.

What I miss? Being able to ride around on the lake on our boat.  We can't go out far because the bumps on the waves are too much.  Good thing Clint can leave me in our boat and go out with our friends on their boat.  At least, he doesn't have to suffer.

What I am looking forward to: Bittersweet, our last shower is Sunday.  Our church is giving it.

Milestones: I'm 8 months pregnant!

How is daddy?Getting very exctied for her to be here!

Just 8 weeks!

How far along? 32 weeks

How big is baby? Average size: about 3 3/4lbs.  The size of a jicama.

Average Length: about 16 in

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Just like you, your unborn baby will establish a daily routine. You'll notice at times your baby is active and wiggly, while at other times you can't feel her movements. Once your baby's born, she'll most likely continue with her in-utero pattern. Along with a routine, your baby has favorite positions too. A favorite of many unborn babies is to have their heads down, rumps up towards the ribs (conveniently, the perfect position for labor)."What about mama? Babyzone.com says"Only a few weeks to go and you're probably counting down the days! No wonder, with all the aches and pains throughout your body. But along with a sore back and swollen ankles, you may notice less painful signs that delivery day is around the corner. A whitish to clear fluid may leak out of your breasts. This foremilk, called colostrum, will sustain your baby for the first few days of his life if you choose to breastfeed. You may also have a whitish, vaginal discharge called leukorrhea. This is normal throughout pregnancy and will increase as you approach delivery."

*WARNING TMI: the discharge thing is SO TRUE these days!!!

Symptoms: Big time waddling, big time discharge, not very hungry or if I am I can't eat a lot!

Maternity clothes: I have had to retire some t-shirts I wear to work.  The belly creeps out.

Sleep: Sleeping really well, but am starting to get tired during the day some.

Best moment last week? Going out on our boat Saturday!!

Movement: Oh yeah.  She rotates and punches to where it feels like my entire body moves.

Cravings: Still nada!!
Belly Button in or out: It makes me wonder how deep that thing is!

What I miss? Sleeping on my belly!  ahhhh
What I am looking forward to: We have our 2nd shower Saturday!!!
Milestones: We started childbirth classes last night!  The first class was pretty much a review for me and Clint as well. I am the furthest along in my class.  That is kind of fun!

How is daddy? SO goofy.  In childbirth class last night, I think we were the only ones having fun at times.  Making jokes and laughing.  He is so much fun!

I'll leave you with the 31w3d pic of me.

31 weeker and doc update

How far along? 31 weeks

How big is baby? Average size: about 4 oranges.  So over 3lbs.

Average Length: about 16 in head to heel.  Sheesh!

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Your unborn baby's lungs continue to mature. As her lungs become more developed, the chances of her surviving if born prematurely increase. Her skin, which has been wrinkled, now becomes pink and smooth as fat cells fill out her body.
Baby knows your voice. Singing to her, talking to her, and telling her all about the world she'll be joining soon is a great way for you and your partner to bond with Baby—and each other!

Your baby's fingernails have grown and she may even need a manicure after she's born. "

What about mama? We had our 31 week doc appt yesterday.
Weight: up .75lb.  It has slowed down for sure.  That is 1.5lb gain in 4 weeks.
Blood Pressure: perfect at 116/76
Ava's heartbeat: has slowed to 130 (it has been ~140)  According to Clint, that is supposed to happen.
Pee in a cup: No news is good news.  Although, it is getting harder to catch the pee in the cup because my belly is in the way.  I giggle every time.
Fungal Height: right on 31 weeks
Ava's position:  head down position already.

Symptoms: I had my 1st "uncomfortable" day yesterday.  My ankles are starting to ache and I think she is using my bladder as a trampoline.

Maternity clothes: No doubt about that!!!

Sleep: Sleeping, but dreaming a lot!!!  And weird dreams to boot.

Best moment last week? Our 1st shower.

Movement: Crazy how much she moves.  She is getting on a usual pattern.

Cravings: Um.  Sadly, nothing!

Belly Button in or out: It makes me wonder how deep that thing is!

What I miss? Clint started singing "I want my body back, body back, body back.  Mama's so uncomfortable!"  (I don't know if y'all remember but this is to the tune Of the CHILI's Baby Back Ribs commercial jingle.  He has no idea how right he is in that diddy.

What I am looking forward to: getting our boat out on the lake this weekend!  I love the lake and sun.  Give me a book and I can lay there all day long.  Although, I think this summer I will be floating in the water more.
Milestones: Single digit weeks left.

How is daddy? He loves "stalking" the registry and getting presents for Ava.  He is too cute!!

Thursday, May 20, 2010

30?? Oh wow

How far along? 30 weeks.  There are just 70 days until her due date!!  Crazy.

How big is baby? Average size: A little over 3lbs.
Average Length: about 15 3/4 inches, head to heel

What is baby doing this week? Babyzone.com says "Your baby's face looks much like it will when she's born. She still needs to fill out more to get the characteristic chubby infant cheeks, but she's on her way. She can move her head, open her eyes, and make breathing movements through her open nostrils (although no air comes in). What is going on with mama? Babyzone.com says it CORRECTLY!!  "A few more weeks to go! Your baby weight is starting to impact your lifestyle. Bending over is tricky if not impossible. And tying your shoes? Forget about it. As your baby-to-be crowds your internal organs you may experience more heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence. Breathing may be more difficult as your lungs have less room to expand."  CAN I GET AN AMEN?!!!

Symptoms: Right now websites say I should be having no sleep, no problems here.  Swelling, no problem here.  Potty breaks,   some days I feel like I should take my laptop in the bathroom to work.  No clothes that fit, some things I have my belly creeps out at the bottom.

Maternity clothes: My t-shirts are about a day away from being retired!

Sleep: Good actually.  I have been sleeping heavy and longer than normal.

Best moment last week? We got Ava's bedding delivered to us!!

Movement: Crazy!  I got my first rib kid last night.  It didn't hurt but it was a little uncomfortable!

Cravings: No cravings, although I have been digging some easy no prep foods likfe Clif bars.

Belly Button in or out: Still in there.

What I miss? Not getting out of breath so easily.

What I am looking forward to: 1st shower Saturday.

Milestones: 30 weeks!

How is daddy? Amazing and shows me love and affection to make me feel so special these days!
